Policy Statement for Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA)

As part of the National Workforce Remodelling Reforms, School must implement Planning, Preparation and Assessment time, following full consultation with all teachers and support staff.  The School has a statutory duty to give every classroom teacher 10% release time to undertake high quality Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) activities.

Workforce Reform

This document relates to Workload and Workforce Reforms and it answers many of the questions asked by schools. Obviously the NUT welcomes the training provided to Teaching Assistants, in order that they can support teachers.The NUT believes in the principle that every class should have a Qualified Teacher and a Teaching/Learning Assistant.

Guidance on the National Agreement

This guidance refers to changes in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document relating to the National Agreement that will come into force in September 2003. It proposes that teachers should have support so that they can focus on teaching and learning and have a reasonable work/life balance and that headteachers and those in a leadership role should also have support to perform leadership tasks and have a reasonable work/life balance

Guidance on Classroom Observation

Classroom observation should take place in the context of an agreed school policy for monitoring and evaluation, which identifies ground rules and procedures.
